Silent Night

I think this was my favorite card to make this season.

To make this card I begin with stamping the song "Silent Night" on white paper.

Next I take a piece of Vellum paper

I buy vellum in sheets of 10. You can purchase it at Hobby Lobby, Michael's or online.

I use the baby Jesus stamp putting VersaMark ink on the stamp and stamping on the vellum paper.

You can see the light print of the stamp on the vellum paper.

Next I cover the paper with silver embossing powder.

Using the heat gun to melt the embossing powder.

I always like to decorate the outside of the envelope so I stamp the envelope and emboss with silver embossing powder.

Here are all the pieces of  this card. The card base is on the left. Now to assemble all the pieces together.

I attach the largest black paper to the card base first.

I put together the next to pieces of paper.

Next I add the paper with music.

Next comes the vellum that I lay on top. I have adhesive in areas where it is stamped to help hide the adhesive. That is the down side to using vellum is almost every adhesive you use shows through the paper.

The final step is to add this trio of papers to the card base.

Now to stamp the sentiment inside the card. I place the stamp where I want the sentiment to be.

Even though the lid has grid lines, it is still hard to tell if the stamp will be straight so I use a piece of plastic for a trial run of placement.

Good thing I practiced as the stamp wasn't completely straight!

I readjust the stamp and am much happier with this placement.

Final steps are to stamp the back with my business name and the other stamp is for the stamps that I used in making the card.

When I make cards to personally give to people I will put the month and year the card was created under my name.

The finished card and matching envelope.

Where In The Market?

Maybe you've been to The Market but you aren't sure where you can find my cards once inside.

Well, that's easy! My card rack is on the checkout counter located at the backdoor of The Market leading to the parking lot.

You can see the Christmas cards but there are other cards that are hiding behind so be sure to look through all the cards.

Light in My Pathway cards are sold in The Market at 76067 100 South Oak in historic downtown Mineral Wells.

Faith of a Child

This image is created by artist Phyllis Harris. I love it's simplicity.

I colored the image with copic markers and I added "snow" for interest and dimension.

Joy to the World!

Sometimes I like to make cards using large sentiments instead of images. This stamp is one of my favorites that stands alone well on the front of a card.

I used a gold paper for the background. Stamped the image with VersaMark ink and used gold embossing powder to make this stunning Christmas card.

This card is at The Market at 76067 in historic downtown Mineral Wells 100 South Oak Ave.

Warm Wishes and Christmas Blessings

This is the first time I inked up these stamps. I'm a little embarrassed it took me this long. I love how they turned out.

I used my copic markers to color the image.

I added a product to this card that gives the appearance of snow. It comes in a tube and dispenses in a liquid form but when heat is applied the magic happens.

This photo gives you a better idea of what the "snow" looks like.

Here is a different angle to see how the "snow" brings interest and dimension to the card.

These two designs can be found at The Market at 76067 in historic downtown Mineral Wells or contact me lightinmypathway@gmail.com.

Start to Finish "Joy" Card

Embossing is one of my favorite card making techniques. There are two types of embossing. "Dry"embossing and "wet" embossing. "Dry" embossing is imprinting a design in something. "Wet" embossing uses powder and heat creating a raised affect.

This blog will feature "wet" embossing technique.

I prepare the paper for embossing by using a "Embossing Buddy" a little pouch with powder that removes any static keeping the embossing powder only on the places ink is applied.

Next  I place the stamp on the paper where I want it. This little device that the paper and stamp is on is a must have in my opinion if you do a lot of stamping. I will close the clear lid on the left and the stamp will stick. (The silver bar with blue tape is a magnet. The base is magnetic and this helps hold the paper in place for stamping a perfect image.

Next I apply VersaMark ink which is a translucent sticky ink that will allow the embossing powder to adhere to the image.

If you look closely you can see the image and sentiment.

The gray tray is for catching the powder so I can put any loose back in the container.

I am using gold embossing powder for this card.

I pour the embossing powder over the stamped image and shake the paper to cover all the areas with ink.

I am ready to apply heat. That is where the magic is!

Now to apply the embossed card front to the gold background paper using adhesive.

Finished card with matching envelope.

Happy Birthday

As you will see in a moment,  I couldn't get enough of using this new metal diecut from Kokorosa studio.

This is a great way to use up scrap pieces of paper and create great backgrounds for any card occasion.

I love the big "Happy Birthday" sentiment.

Both of these cards can be found at The Market at 76067 in historic downtown Mineral Wells.

Joy Girl

I made this card for a dear friend. The image is a rubber stamp created by artist Angie Blom and sold by Unity Stamp Company.

The background was created with a metal diecut made by Kokorosa Studio using different papers.

I decided to create a few more cards and make available for sale.
